Monitoring of critical components
- Client: SAIPEM
- Industry: Oil & Gas
- Location: Azerbaijan – Caspian Sea
- Hydro: Hydro 300 | ROV: Innovator 21 | Depth: 150 m
Mission’s context
This case study focuses on a subsea inspection of critical components of an offshore platform: jackets and risers. Keystones of the infrastructure, the jacket, forming the foundation, and risers, transporting hydrocarbons from the seabed to the surface, are subjected to constant stress from environmental factors such as waves, currents, and corrosion. Regular inspection of these components is essential to detect any signs of damage, or structural fatigue that could compromise their integrity. SAIPEM, commissioned to conduct an inspection of the platform chose IVM Technologies to complete a photogrammetric survey of these components.
IVM Solution
Adapted to shallow waters and highly maneuverable, our Hydro 300 stereo photogrammetry unit was excellent in this application. Despite the difficult access to the inside of the jacket, the inspection went well and covered the entire scope of work: the jacket leg, horizontal, vertical, and diagonal members, as well as associated anodes. Concerning the riser, it was inspected from the seabed to the vertical clamp, covering approximately 23 meters in length.
