Detailed 3D model of a plane wreck
- Industry: Marine Sciences
- Location: United Kingdom – Vobster Quay
- Hydro: Hydro 300 | ROV: Ocean Module V8 M500 | Depth: 14 meters
Mission’s context
Following the acquisition of an Hydro 300 unit, Atlantas Marine received an extensive training on photogrammetry and our products. The training took place at their facilities, not far from Vobster Quay, a famous spot for underwater inspection sites. Among other things, there is a wreck lying in three sections in a line of a Hawker Siddeley HS-748, an aircraft that served with UK’s Civil Aviation Authority until the late 1990s. Easily accessible and in perfect condition, it is the perfect study object.
IVM Solution
As part of the hands-on training, the Hydro 300 was successfully integrated into Ocean Modules’ V8 M500. The objective was to inspect the entire wreck of the Hawker Siddeley HS-748 using underwater photogrammetry. The Hydro 300’s high-resolution imaging capabilities captured the wreck in remarkable detail, enabling the generation of a complete and accurate 3D model. This practical session allowed Atlantas Marine to become fully operational with the system and demonstrated the versatility and ease of use of our solutions.
