Hydro Series x R7 by EXAIL

This article shines a light on the latest integration of our stereo photogrammetry cameras, Hydro Series, onto the observation-class ROV R7 by EXAIL. This collaboration of underwater inspection equipment provider is a promise of a compact duo designed to deliver reliable, high-quality inspection missions across key industries.

The R7 is known for its versatility and robustness in underwater exploration, enabling operators to carry out complex inspections for defense and civil applications. Integrated onto this ROV, our Hydro Series, mainly Hydro 100 and Hydro 300, enhance the R7’s versatility by offering a new sensor capable of 3D modelisation of all subsea assets, even in challenging environments. This duo is a perfect fit for shallow water inspections such as UWILD, or for inland water inspections such as hydroelectric power plants.

A successful collaboration for subsea inspections equipment

This collaboration with EXAIL, a major underwater inspection equipment provider, was organised over two days, dedicated to integration and testing across different applications. On the first day, both mechanical teams worked in sync to integrate Hydro 100 and Hydro 300 onto two R7 units, followed by initial tests in EXAIL’s pool. These tests were then carried out in real conditions, at the port of Sète, allowing for a deeper appreciation of the system’s capabilities.

Coupled with the Hydro Series, the R7 gains in versatility, enabling inspection companies to expand their service offering with stereo photogrammetry. This integration opens the door to more detailed, measurable, and repeatable inspections, while maintaining a compact setup and operational efficiency, even in constrained or complex underwater environments.

Once again, this collaboration demonstrates that Hydro Series units seamlessly fit into any existing workflow, thanks to their effortless integration.
